• Awards for Students: Academic Excellence Award The TASSP Academic Excellence Recognition Program was established to honor and recognize high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in areas of academic achievement, test scores and writing skills. The program will recognize twenty graduating Texas seniors with an unrestricted scholarship of $500. In addition, these twenty winners will be introduced at the general session of the TASSP Summer Workshop held in Austin in June and also honored there with a luncheon featuring the students, parents and their principals. Thirty finalists will be recognized locally with plaques donated by Jostens. Who is Eligible? Each Texas high school whose principal is a member of TASSP may nominate ONE graduating senior for this recognition.

• TASSP congratulates Keith Bryant, superintendent of Lubbock-Cooper ISD, for being named the 2019 Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). TASSP also recognizes the regional winners for this award and expresses our gratitude for their effective leadership.

• News from the Federal Program Compliance Division: 2019-2020 Needs Assessment, Priorities and Program Outcomes (SC3001)
TEA is announcing the availability of the 2019-2020 Needs Assessment, Priorities and Program Outcomes Schedule (SC3001). The schedule is available on eGrants under the Special Collections tab.
All LEAs that applied for ESSA, Perkins, School Improvement or Rural and Low-Income Schools funding in the 2019-2020 grant year are required to complete the SC3001 Schedule. The schedule is designed to collect data on student outcome-focused SMART Goals, federal funds projected to be spent on the four TEA Strategic Priorities, and implementation of TEA-recommended uses of federal funds guidance. Reporting Deadline: The schedule is due via eGrants by December 20, 2019.
